SMILES

Do you have lines on your face?
What kind of lines are they? The predominant mood of your life is shown by the wrinkles on your face. They can be frown lines, or they can be smile lines. Crow's feet are the sign of years of smiles. Did you know that a smile saves energy? It uses twelve muscles to frown, but only four to make a smile. If you go to bed, it is said, with a slight smile on your face, you will relax more easily into a refreshing sleep. Try deliberately smiling to someone who looks despondent - a smile can be passed on. Imagine visiting a doctor who did not smile, or trying to talk to a shop assistant who did not smile. Somehow it spoils a two-way communication and takes away confidence.

When did you last really smile, with all your heart, to those in your family? A smile can unwind many tense situations. Is your first reaction to look 'daggers' at them when things are wrong. There may be a very real problem, but a smile is an invitation to talk about it more easily. Children always seem to be doing something wrong, but a big smile first tells them you love them, even though you may not love their naughty ways. A gentle smile to someone ill or old, will lift the heart more than words can say, particularly when combined with an unhurried loving touch.

"Smiles will heal, but frowns can fracture - TRY A SMILE." C.G.Bushnell.
